Life isn’t all cookies and butterflies, it’s dark, wicked, and filthy. Some how CrossFit has become a ray of sunshine in this world of darkness. Not only is it something that people genuinly enjoy putting themselves through, it better equipts us for the challenges ahead. Freddy C. of CrossFit One World wrote an article about this topic not too long ago. Some sceptics and haters have determined that Crossfit atheletes are preparing for some superhuman feat that they will likely never face. Freddy responds
Sure, I might live my entire life and never need to perform a heroic act….or, I might have to perform several in one day. Who knows? We know not what life has in store for us tomorrow. A mom or dad might have to save their family from a house fire. A teacher might have to protect his/her students from some heinous act of school violence. A firefighter or police officer may go to work tomorrow and not return home to their loved ones.
I agree with Camacho completely, but I would also like to add how CrossFit betters us all in our basic, unsuperhuman parts of life. Grandma can carry her grocieries all the way to her car without assistance or stopping for a break, grandpa can put the heavy bucket of paint in its place on the shelf in the garage without a stool or ladder. Mom can lift and walk with that piece of furniture that just needs to be in another room, and not wait for her husband to come home from work, dad can open that pickle jar without throwing out his back, and the kids, well, they dominate the neighborhood with their superior lumbar curve and always get picked first for any game.
I am always inspired each day when I walk into a CrossFit box and I see women do things that were once considered…just for men. Who knew a woman could clean 150#…I never thought I would be able to do it. But I did and it was one of the proudest moments of my CrossFit addiction. And geeze, there are women at One World who are damn near deadlifting 300#. Now that’s amazing, I see men everyday who can’t do some of the things us women do and it brought me to the realization of just how important technique is. Hell, I never would have cleaned 150# without it. If I don’t drop under that bar, well…I wont be catching it. I think a thing to consider for us women is we are driven, our drive causes us to focus and in turn, since we can’t always rely on raw power, our only choice is amazing technique or failure.
Now, I’m not saying that men are all raw power, or that all women aren’t, I just think people need to have some drive, focus, and determination. Something I myself have been lacking these past few weeks. Hopefully, you, the reader have not fallen off the pony.
The only real purpose of this post was to express my love for the women who have crossed the borders into a world of fitness, health, and strength!
I’ll be at the Games, I hope to see many of you there!
Hey guys, hows it hanging! This whole blog thing is failing now that I am back in California and actually doing things. All of a sudden I do not have free time or motivation. Interesting… This guy knows how to dance!
Camping this season is going to be a big thing on my to do list to frquent. I want to get out on the lakes and make some meories. This past weekend I went with a lovally group to Lake Tulloch. I had such a great time, especially when I got off the antihistamenes. They were killing me.
Meet: Jason Borgenburch
Occupation: Video Game Tester
Underwear: Flinstone thong in bottom drawer
Biggest Secret: Lives at home with his mom and enjoys smoking the reefer with her cat whilst wearing her silken lingerie.
So this game is fun but I haven’t been making much of an effort because I have been all over the place. For example the beach, hence Jason B. and going to the lake, grand fun. So I will try to make quality posts and hopefully get some videos up as soon as I fix the sound on my computer.
I have a few things coming up in the next couple of weeks and hopefully I can pull some fun content from these events.
Occupation: Dental Hygenist (likes to be up in your grill)
Panties: Blue Thong with Yellow Polka Dots
Biggest Secret: Is in love with her sister’s fiance’s ex girlfriend’s husband. Listens to Posion and thinks she is Bret Michaels’ Rock of Love. Hates Tila Tequila and doing dishes.
Today I had an outing with Sexy Sandra and Krazy Kirk. Kicked it off with Breakfast at the Cabrilla Cafe then walked it off at the Great Mall. Many laughs, a lot of BSing, and big shiny black things. Good Times!
After a morning of eating Zone, then not Zone, I have decided that I want to do more Zone. Hahaha, This weekend is camping at Lake Tulac and I’m thinking there will be some really good and interesting times.
What is up with the weather. First it’s really hot, then it get’s cold, and supposedly it’s supposed to get warm again. I’m thinking it better for this camping trip! Or ELSE!!!
Here is some Styx…I was feeling groovy early and thought I would share this awesome video with you!!!
You never know what the world has to offer unless you get out there and try new things. Heck, you might find something that you really like. Thus, my challenge will be to try something new everyday. I will be taking pictures or video of whatever my find is. Today’s find is some German candy and candy from I dunno where. Gummies were okay in small quantities. The little hard yogurt things were good but with a weird after taste.
Okay…so my idea for a game is actually Jeffs idea and kinda works with Billellsworths since its already kind of a passion to be random…I will play the people watching game. The rules are simple. I will walk around or sit on a bench with a coffee or whatever and watch people and when I see someone interesting I will do the following:
Make up a name for the person.
Make up what they do for a living.
Make up what kind of underwear they wear.
Or makeup something else super random…
It will all be based on first impressions and appearance!
My blog suffers from a lack of creative content. I need a new challenge. The Zone challenge gave me not only something to write about, it gave me a way to connect with my readers. I am up for a new challenge, throw some my way!
I’m thinking about challenging myself to try something new everyday whether it be food, places, or activities.
Good news, I have finally signed up for my summer math course, a course that will determine my academic future. Should I fail this class, I will be kicked out of East Bay and will have to go to Ohlone…Math 900…an algebra course that is considered elementary…a course that I find very difficult. Quote from me ” I suck at math”. I guess I need to take in the CrossFit philosophy of “practicing what you suck at”…which for me is math…trust me, I’d rather do Fran…So on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am till 11:50am I will be learning algebra…again…hopefully…
On another note I cam in third for the CrossFit One World tryouts. Congrats to Cheryl and Jaime who killed all of the workouts! It was a two day killer with a mix of a full squat Grace, a 5k Row (disgusting), and Helen. I think I speak for everyone who participated when I say, “it was a blast!”
The Zone: I have been Zoning on and off for the past week or so. When I am on it, I feel fabulous, when I’m not, I feel…okay. Lesson here, I should start Zoning again. So should you!
A job…I need to find a job soon. I’m thinking Monday I’ll walk into Sports Authority and ask for an application, and perhaps see about getting an early morning job at Starbucks or something. Wish me luck!
Strength comes in many forms. It can be born or it can be learned, just as it can be of the body or of the mind. The choices that we make shape our strengths, test our limits, and determine our boundaries, and they change and develope all the time. We choose when to thrive, and we choose the moments that will change us. I have watched men wander into dark places, only to then see them return with humble resolve and accomplishment. I have seen women who decided to no longer be the victim, and in their life, they have become heros. I am privilaged to walk among such people.
The Nor Cal Quals were an amazing spectacle. If you weren’t there, you missed out. A lot of people showed up and brought a bunch of heart to Aromas. A wonderful handful of those people will be representing us at the games. All I can say is that I am proud to be a Nor Caler.
Considering my new living situation the Zone is super difficult to stay on. Also, with a change of enviorment and weather I have decided to change my diet. My primary focus has been proteins and fats with a little bit of carbs. So far it has been great. I’m hoping it stays that way. In a way this is quantine too. I’m avoiding sweets and such with hopes of making the One World affiliate team. I’m also going to follow the “be good all week and spoil yourself on the weekends” method. Reason being my sweet tooth is a beast and it needs to be concured. Also, sushi night is this friday and the breakfast club meets on Sunday. These things are important.
By the way, I have been having some major issues with YouTube and copyright junk as well as windows movie maker. They are giving me hell and keeping me from sleeping at night. Any experts are welcome!
I’m excited, I’m excited, I’m excited, weeeeeeeeeeeeee….Ok I’m lame. But seriously, tommorrow will be intense at the Nor Cal Qualifiers. I mean have yo seen the workouts. Now that’s a challenge. The five men and five women who make the cut will have certaintly earned it. Not to be rude, but some of the Quals so far have been lame in comparison. Granted, those easy workouts that anyone could do become so much more challenge with the added pressure of trying to make it to the Games sets in. Regardless, and with all bias set aside, I am so excited to see how all of the CrossFitters from around the world will come together and compete to be the CrossFit King and Queen. The anticipation is enough to make me a little crazy! Weeeeeeee!
